Q & A’s with Andy Holloway from The Fantasy Footballers Podcast

What’s your show about?

Hi this is Andy Holloway from The Fantasy Footballers podcast, a proud Libsyn hosted podcast that caters to all of the Fantasy Football and Daily Fantasy Sports players around the globe.

When did you start podcasting?

We began our podcasting adventure in 2014 when we saw what we thought was a gaping hole in the Fantasy Football podcast market.

Why did you start podcasting?

As lifelong friends and fantasy football players ourselves, we knew that there were very few shows that combined high quality content and fantasy football information with humor, entertainment and premium production quality.

I host the show along with our fantasy analyst Jason Moore and Mike “The Fantasy Hitman” Wright, and each week we dive into the ins and outs of fantasy football, all in an effort to help our listeners dominate their leagues this season.

We also focus on the Daily Fantasy Sports market, a growing piece in the 70 billion dollar fantasy football market.

What’s your podcasting set-up? Hardware, software, CMS, etc.

We record shows two to three times a week, using Behringer B2-Pro Condenser microphones, an Akai Professional Series recording interface, and Logic pro.

One of the things we integrate into our show as well are professional segment drops that we have custom made by voiceover artists at Fiverr.com which we combine with the musical talents of our own Mike Wright.

They give our show it’s own feel and add a polish element we think adds to what we do.

How have you promoted your podcast?

When we began, and even to this day, we approached the growth and promotion of the podcast in a very grass-roots kind of way.

We’ve always had the ideal that every new listener matters, and this approach has meant a deep dive into social media and interaction with our listeners.

We make a special effort to answer user questions via Twitter, email, on the show itself, and even on our new Fantasy Footballers YouTube channel.

The connections we’ve built with our fans, affectionately known as the #FootClan, have been a key to building lifelong listenership and a willingness to support the show at every turn.

Despite the challenges of a larger listenership than when we began, we still make every effort to stay connected with our listeners.

All of our backgrounds are in the technology field, and so having a strong online presence on our website, TheFantasyFootballers.com, has also been key in presenting ourselves and our product in the right way to potential subscribers and listeners.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

One thing we wish we knew when we got started was simply how many companies, individuals, and opportunities would come out of the woodwork as the show began to grow.

We’ve learned how important it is to be discerning, patient, and to evaluate each opportunity on it’s own merits as we make decisions that best support the show, it’s monetization, and it’s future.

I encourage all new podcasters to exercise patience and be careful when approached by the various hosting platforms that exist out there.

One of the reasons we are a proud Libsyn podcast despite opportunities other places is because of their commitment to the podcaster themselves, the nimble control of our own feed and product, and the fact we know we’re with a host on the cutting edge of podcasting, focused on the same things we’re focused on.

It’s one of the things that’s helped turn our fledgling, independent fantasy football podcast into the #1 fantasy football podcast on iTunes, and a top 5 overall sports podcast in little over a years time.

If you’d like to connect with us, you can do so via our twitter page @TheFFBallers and we’d be happy to help answer any questions you might have.
