Q & A with The Cowboy Perspective

When did you start podcasting?

March 2019

Why did you start podcasting?

I was listening to Gary Vee’s podcast (The Gary Vee Audio Experience) and he said something like “just do it” about podcasting.

I started buying equipment as soon as I got to my office…outside of that I wanted an excuse to record conversations with people I admire and look up to…almost as a thank you for all they have given me!

What’s the name of your show and what is it about?

The Cowboy Perspective – It is about the people I know and meet that mold my perspective on the world (faith, family, and business).

I find so much value in their thoughts, experiences, and truth that I just know someone else will too.

What’s your podcasting set-up?

All this fits in one backpack, Zoom H6 recorder, 3-Samson Q2U dynamic mics, 2-Bose over ear headphones, 2-desktop mic stands, 1-tripod for cell phone video, aa batteries, cords (1–12 ft xlr cable male to female, 2–6 ft xlr cables male to female, 3 way 3.5mm headphone jack splitter, audio cable 3.5mm male to 1/4 male, 3.5mm male to male cable, usb to micro usb cable), pens, paper.

I use a producer for all editing (not sure what software he uses…his name is Johnny Peterson with Straight Up Podcasts).

How have you promoted your podcast?

On social media like Twitter, IG and Facebook (maybe $5 per episode ad spend), and word of mouth (I bet people get tired of me telling them I do a podcast…it is all about the network…go listen to episode 29).

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

Great audio quality is imperative!

I use Libsyn (seriously trying to podcast without their platform is tough), stay ahead of your episodes i.e. don’t try to record and release same week, know what your good at and let someone else do the other parts i.e. editing and producing a quality show is a lot more than recording and publishing!
