Q & A with Becca and Gabe from The Jack Russell Parents
When did you start podcasting?
The Jack Russell Parents podcast first dropped on March 1, 2021.
Why did you start podcasting?
My husband and I began podcasting because we love creating “artsy” things together; it’s how we met and fell in love.
We also love telling stories about our dog — a podcast is the perfect way to do both.
What’s the name of your show and what is it about?
The Jack Russell Parents podcast celebrates Jack Russell Terrier dogs and the joys of companionship with canines of every kind!
Each week, we explore all the hilarious and humbling, heartfelt and harrowing stories that only dog parents can truly relate to.
We also love welcoming guests and promoting fellow dog-focused podcasters, dog industry professionals, and artists who focus their work on capturing the beauty and joy of humankind’s best friend.
In addition to sharing news stories and trending social media topics about dogs, we enjoy reading Puppy Parent Replies to questions such as “What’s your dog’s best trick?” or “Which 80’s song does your dog remind you of?”
What’s your podcasting set-up?
To record, we use two Rode Procaster microphones and a Zoom H4N recorder. To edit, we use Adobe Audition.
How have you promoted your podcast?
To promote our content and guests, we created a website and blog, and we stay active on the social media channels like Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
It’s a daily delight connecting with other Jack Russell parents and the online dog-lover community with discussions, audiograms, and meme sharing.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?
Creating good audio design was an entirely new skill set for us, one we would’ve researched and practiced before we started recording – had we known what a steep learning curve it would be.
Taking Adobe Audition and sound design courses would’ve saved many hours of troubleshooting.
Calling out to all pet parents! Becca and Gabe capture what it is like to be a pet parent. This funny and informative podcast is entertaining to any dog parent or pets of any sort. A must listen on Apple Podcasts or Spotify if you love dogs or have pets of any kind.
