Q & A with Pitney and Amelia’s Bitchen Boutique | Real Life Comedy

When did you think about starting a podcast?

Our show premiered in May of 2016.

Why did you start podcasting?

We started podcasting because we thought it would be easier than writing a book.

We were idiots.

What’s the name of your show and what is it about?

Pitney and Amelia’s Bitchen Boutique. A silly name for a seriously silly podcast.

Two funny and frequently vulgar Gen Xers, best friends since 1984, telling honest stories about our lives.

Our ENTIRE lives, even the ugly stuff, which is why we don’t use our real names.

What’s your podcast setup?

For the past couple of years, we’ve been recording separately because we’re living in different states. Pitney moved back to California to take care of his mother.

We have as close to identical setups as we can … Blue Yeti USB mics recording solo tracks in Audacity while we hear each other via a Skype call thru headphones. Then we convert those solo tracks to MP3 and I insert them into a new audacity file for editing.

We also have a handheld Zoom H1 recorder for when we go to events together and want to record spontaneously. (All of our early shows were recorded on Zoom H1!)

How have you promoted your real life comedy podcast?

Mostly on Twitter through relationships with other podcasters and word of mouth. Lately, GoodPods has become one of our major promotional tools as well as a support system for us!

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

I wish I hadn’t been afraid of multi-track editing.

I made things so much harder on myself by recording both of us in a room on a single mic and having to spend many, MANY hours making edits to one horrible-sounding track.

Oh, and also that I really didn’t need to YELL so much. Seriously, what was wrong with me?

These two take silly to the next level, while telling true stories about real life. Today’s world may not be the easiest to navigate but Pitney & Amelia’s Bitchen Boutique certainly helps their listeners laugh through it. Listen to this hilarious take on life on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.

Sometimes the best part of going out with friends is the pre-going-out happenings.  That session where you’re catching up and sharing your week, the great or awful people you encountered, or that situation that could only happen to you. Pitney & Amelia put these hilarious moments in a podcast. You, too, have relatable stories about adulting or lack thereof? Do you want to podcast for fun?

We can help you with our Start Your Podcast blog series. If you are ready, we have the best podcast hosting plans around!
