Q & A with Tam from Sincerely Her
When did you think about starting a podcast?
I produced my first podcast in 2009.
Fast-forwarding to 2016, my first time actually behind a podcast microphone, I co-hosted and produced the “All Turns No Brakes” NASCAR Podcast.
In 2020, I launched the Sincerely HER Podcast. Today, and 400+ episodes later, I am the host and producer of Sincerely HER.
Why did you start podcasting?
I started podcasting because I believed the space lacked unique and diverse voices like mine.
My desire or goal was to help people who were struggling with confidence and taking action.
I wrote brief notes to motivate myself as far back as I could remember. Now, I share those motivational notes with the world on my podcast.
What’s the name of your show and what is it about?
The Sincerely HER Podcast provides bite sized motivation and mindset tips to help people find clarity, get sh*t down, and win.
What’s your podcast set up?
My podcast set up is simple.
I use a Samson COU1 Pro microphone with a pop filter and mic stand, a MacBook Pro, Audacity open-source audio software, and Libsyn for podcast hosting and distribution.
I also use WordPress as a CMS for my personal and podcast websites, where I add the Libsyn embed codes for each episode.
I’m proficient at editing, but occasionally I will run my audio through Auphonic for extra post production quality.
How have you promoted your podcast?
I transcribe my podcast audio and post the text on my website to increase SEO, or search engine optimization.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?
I wish I had an outreach plan before launching the Sincerely HER Podcast. A pre launch promotional campaign would have made a difference in my listenership.
If I started a new podcast today, I would also convert my audio to a YouTube video sooner rather than later.
