Q & A with Jen from Her Dinero Matters

When did you start podcasting?

June 2015

Why did you start podcasting?

I knew I needed a medium where I could create content and do it consistently- blogging wasn’t it for me, I tried YouTube but it was still too overwhelming for me to do it on a consistent basis. I discovered podcasting, I fell in love and I haven’t looked back.

What’s the name of your show and what is it about?

Her Dinero Matters

The show started as Her Money Matters which focused on exploring our money stories as it relates to our relationship with money + learning ways to make money more simple.

As of 2019 the podcast was renamed to Her Dinero Matters with the same focus on the content only more geared to Latinas and the Latinx culture as the gender wage gap is the largest with the Latinas in comparison to the other subgroups of women.

The overall goal is to help women become reinas of their money, in other words being confident and taking control of their financial life.

What’s your podcasting set-up?

My setup is super simple.

I use SquadCast to record everything. My mic is a Samson Q2U although I used an ATR 2100 for the longest and that has become my back up mic. That is it. I also use earbuds, a boom arm and a microphone foam shield.

How have you promoted your podcast?

Typically on social media, to my email list, at events I speak at, and when I am a guest on other podcasts.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

The amount of work one episode takes and I wish I had a better understanding of podcast advertising.
