Q & A with Dr. Chris from Living A Life In Full

When did you start podcasting?

Fall of 2017

Why did you start podcasting?

I am fortunate to have a number of amazing accomplished friends and colleagues, most all of whom have some philanthropic or humanitarian bent. I have a nonprofit that I started and I wanted to “learn in public” from these folks, and to also help inspire listeners and gain greater recognition for the work of my guests.

Initially it was supported by the company I worked for, but I have since left there and now increased my focus on the humanitarian space with most all guests. I’m working to open-source humanitarian intervention and global health.

What’s the name of your show and what is it about?

It’s “Living a Life in Full” and is a companion to my work in the nonprofit area as well as being inspiration to learn from others in order to help others.

The “Living a Life in Full” podcast is the conversation you always wanted to have with that person who gave an amazing TED talk, or the author of one your favorite books, or that inspirational Olympian you always wanted to know more about.

This show is for the intellectually curious. You want to not just know more about the interesting and the innovative, but also what makes them tick, and maybe even what makes them laugh. It’s graduate-level conversations with those making a difference in the world and the lives of others.

This show brings you new ideas and approaches so listeners can, live a life, in full.

The show is equal parts information and inspiration, but without the aphorisms and pablum. We cover a wide range of topics in an engaging way—from Burning Man to The Renaissance Weekend, from the United Nations to top universities, Nobel Laureates to astronauts—we have an amazing Rolodex.

Interviewees are a who’s who of high-performance athletes, bestselling authors, high-caliber leaders, world changing humanitarians, innovative researchers, amazing start-up founders, clever life-hackers, paradigm busting thought-leaders and global innovators.

How have you promoted your podcast?

Great question. As best I can. I am fortunate to be a LinkedIn Influencer with about a half million followers, and I just launched a [LinkedIn Newsletter](–6694600737873309696/>) with >100,000 subscribers after only 8 weekly issues that also informs readers that there are additional channels to learn from.

I use my interview script from my guest’s questions (based on the questions we actually used) into a LinkedIn Influencer blog post, with images and links that support my guest’s work.

Once that is published, I scrape it, with attribution, and repost it to Medium, as derivative content. I also take that scrape and edit it into a PDF and then post on, as I am an academic and my guests’ topics often rise to that level.

I also have made a montage on YouTube via a Season One Promo: and a 30 second trailer:

I have been a guest on other shows and I make mention of my show. I have it listed each time I post and in my email sig-line via which also has a nice social justice popup that is consonant with my brand.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

Well, I guess it may be about managing expectations. This is a very crowded space. It used to be a joke that if you were unemployed, your job was “I have a podcast.” Now everyone does. So while the prior stigma is less, but the field is more competitive, and it’s harder to be found or to get fans to actually write a review.
