When did you think about <\/b>starting a podcast<\/b>?<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

Our show premiered in May of 2016.<\/p>\n

Why did you start podcasting?<\/b><\/p>\n

We started podcasting because we thought it would be easier than writing a book.<\/p>\n

We were idiots.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the name of your show and what is it about?<\/b><\/p>\n

Pitney and Amelia’s Bitchen Boutique. A silly name for a seriously silly podcast.<\/p>\n

Two funny and frequently vulgar Gen Xers, best friends since 1984, telling honest stories about our lives.<\/p>\n

Our ENTIRE lives, even the ugly stuff, which is why we don’t use our real names.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your <\/b>podcast setup<\/b>?<\/b><\/p>\n

For the past couple of years, we’ve been recording separately because we’re living in different states. Pitney moved back to California to take care of his mother.<\/p>\n

We have as close to identical setups as we can \u2026 Blue Yeti USB mics recording solo tracks in Audacity while we hear each other via a Skype call thru headphones. Then we convert those solo tracks to MP3 and I insert them into a new audacity file for editing.<\/p>\n

We also have a handheld Zoom H1 recorder for when we go to events together and want to record spontaneously. (All of our early shows were recorded on Zoom H1!)<\/p>\n

How have you promoted your real life comedy podcast?<\/b><\/p>\n

Mostly on Twitter<\/a> through relationships with other podcasters and word of mouth. Lately, GoodPods has become one of our major promotional tools as well as a support system for us!<\/p>\n

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?<\/b><\/p>\n

I wish I hadn’t been afraid of multi-track editing.<\/p>\n

I made things so much harder on myself by recording both of us in a room on a single mic and having to spend many, MANY hours making edits to one horrible-sounding track.<\/p>\n

Oh, and also that I really didn’t need to YELL so much. Seriously, what was wrong with me?<\/p>\n

These two take silly to the next level, while telling true stories about real life. Today\u2019s world may not be the easiest to navigate but Pitney & Amelia’s Bitchen Boutique certainly helps their listeners laugh through it.
