Q & A with Tam from Sincerely Her<\/span><\/h2>\n

When did you think about <\/b>starting a podcast<\/b>?<\/b><\/h3>\n

I produced my first podcast in 2009. <\/span><\/p>\n

Fast-forwarding to 2016, my first time actually <\/span>behind<\/span><\/i> a podcast microphone, I co-hosted and produced the \u201cAll Turns No Brakes\u201d <\/span>NASCAR Podcast<\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n

In 2020, I launched the <\/span>Sincerely<\/span> HER Podcast. Today, and 400+ episodes later, I am the host and producer of Sincerely HER.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why did you start podcasting?<\/b><\/h3>\n

I started podcasting because I believed the space lacked unique and diverse voices like mine. <\/span><\/p>\n

My desire or goal was to help people who were struggling with confidence and taking action. <\/span><\/p>\n

I wrote brief notes to <\/span>motivate<\/span> myself as far back as I could remember. Now, I share those <\/span>motivational<\/span> notes with the world on my podcast.<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s the name of your show and what is it about?<\/b><\/h3>\n

The <\/span>Sincerely HER<\/span><\/a> Podcast provides <\/span>bite sized<\/span> motivation<\/span> and <\/span>mindset tips<\/span> to help people find clarity, get sh*t down, and win.<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s your <\/b>podcast set up<\/b>? <\/b><\/h3>\n

My podcast set up is simple. <\/span><\/p>\n

I use a Samson COU1 Pro microphone with a <\/span>pop filter<\/span> and <\/span>mic stand<\/span>, a <\/span>MacBook Pro<\/span>, <\/span>Audacity<\/span> open-source audio software, and Libsyn for <\/span>podcast hosting<\/span> and distribution. <\/span><\/p>\n

I also use WordPress as a <\/span>CMS<\/span> for my personal and <\/span>podcast websites<\/span>, where I add the Libsyn embed codes for each episode. <\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m proficient at editing, but occasionally I will run my audio through <\/span>Auphonic<\/span> for extra <\/span>post production<\/span> quality.<\/span><\/p>\n

How have you promoted your podcast?<\/b><\/h3>\n

I transcribe my <\/span>podcast audio<\/span> and post the text on <\/span>my website<\/span><\/a> to increase <\/span>SEO<\/span>, or <\/span>search engine optimization<\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n

I also leverage my community on social media (<\/span>Instagram<\/span><\/a> & <\/span>Twitter<\/span><\/a>) and engage an existing <\/span>email list<\/span> that I built before my launch. Most recently, I started pitching the podcast to press.<\/span><\/p>\n

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?<\/b><\/h3>\n

I wish I had an <\/span>outreach plan<\/span> before launching the <\/span>Sincerely HER<\/span><\/a> Podcast. A <\/span>pre launch<\/span> promotional campaign<\/span> would have made a difference in my listenership. <\/span><\/p>\n

If I started a new podcast today, I would also convert my audio to a <\/span>YouTube<\/span><\/a> video sooner rather than later.<\/span><\/p>\n
