When did you think about <\/b>starting a podcast<\/b>?<\/b><\/h3>\n

I started in 2015 as a producer and editor for an <\/span>environmental podcast<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why did you start podcasting?<\/b><\/h3>\n

I was a playwright and podcasting felt a lot like theater. It was <\/span>editing text<\/span>, creating mood with transitions and sounds, and exploring big <\/span>life topics<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

What’s the name of your show and what is it about?<\/b><\/h3>\n

I\u2019m the <\/span>one woman band<\/span> behind the <\/span>And Then Suddenly<\/span> podcast.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On my show, I talk to a <\/span>diverse group <\/span>of guests about one moment that turned their lives upside down. The catch is I can\u2019t know about it until we meet.<\/span><\/p>\n

What’s your <\/b>podcast set up<\/b>?<\/b>\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n

For hardware, in my at-home studio I use a Samsung Q2U microphone.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For an <\/span>in person interview<\/span>, I use two RODE smartLav+ connected to a Zoom H1n.<\/span><\/p>\n

When it comes to software I use Audacity and Garageband.<\/span><\/p>\n

How have you promoted your podcast?<\/b><\/h3>\n

On <\/span>Instagram<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Facebook<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span>LinkedIn<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve also sent episodes to organizations that might be interested in the theme of specific conversations. I\u2019ve gotten some nice boosts from that.<\/span><\/p>\n

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?<\/b><\/h3>\n

Focus on the content and not the <\/span>podcast download numbers<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It takes the joy out of the experience; podcasting is hard work but being able to have <\/span>big life<\/span> conversations with guests is amazing.<\/span><\/p>\n
