When did you start podcasting?<\/b><\/h3>\n

Ellas came second. I started podcasting back in 2017 with my first show,<\/span> Totally Fandom<\/span><\/a>, a film podcast I do with my friend, Ryan Downs.<\/span><\/p>\n

What made you think about starting a podcast?<\/b><\/h3>\n

I <\/span>was very sad, found myself in a creative rut, and I felt so out of place after moving back to the U.S.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ryan and I were co-workers at the time and would always talk about the latest movies we saw. Those conversations brought me so much joy. One day I asked him if he would be open to starting a podcast with me. He said yes!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My first podcast reminded me to always go after the things that make me happy and that there\u2019s always a light at the end of the tunnel.<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s the name of your show and what is it about?<\/b><\/h3>\n

Ellas, which I started back in March 2019, is about amplifying the inspiring journeys of trailblazing Latina leaders. Those who are creating a positive impact in our communities, living their professional dreams, and opening the doors for the next Latinx generation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since then, I have had the honor of amplifying more than 70 Latina voices and sharing their amazing stories and work with the world!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I’ve witnessed the impact that our conversations have brought to my fellow Latina listeners and myself.<\/span><\/p>\n

I’m filled with joy when a listener sends me letters or messages about how Ellas inspired them to open their business, leave a toxic work environment, or switch careers.<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s your podcast setup for Ellas?<\/b><\/h3>\n

I record with my Audio-Technica ATR2100 USB microphone.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For my virtual recordings, I usually go back and forth between Zoom and Riverside.fm to help my guests feel comfortable.<\/span><\/p>\n

I use Squarespace for my website and Notion to help me set my podcast production schedule.<\/span><\/p>\n

How have you promoted Ellas?<\/b><\/h3>\n

Mainly through word of mouth, I LOVE talking about Ellas with others (it helped me get promoted & switch careers), but I\u2019ve also been a guest on other podcasts that share the same values & audience as Ellas.<\/span><\/p>\n

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?<\/b><\/h3>\n

Writing down a schedule for production is crucial. Having it out of your mind and onto paper or online is super helpful for having a clear mind when producing & hosting your show.<\/span><\/p>\n

It gives you a realistic picture of what tasks need to be completed. Moving forward, you know what you can delegate once you don\u2019t have the energy and time to do them.<\/span><\/p>\n
