This series is all about libsyn podcasters. Its sole purpose is to introduce these awesome podcasts to the world as well as share their podcasting insight to empower the community!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n We started working on this podcast in the fall of 2015.<\/p>\n We started gathering audio on Halloween of 2015 and did our last recorded interview in October of 2016, so the production process of this podcast was a full year.<\/p>\n We started podcasting because we are huge fans of podcasts, and we wanted to create the podcast we always wanted to hear.<\/p>\n Our show is the real story about what it takes to \u201cmake it\u201d in the music industry as a band.<\/p>\n We documented the process of an indie buzz band on their quest to writing a hit song.<\/p>\n We also talked to industry professionals to get their perspective on what they think it takes to \u201cmake it\u201d.<\/p>\n For our field recordings we used a TASCAM DR 40 portable field recorder.<\/p>\n We were able to use that to capture on the fly interviews, and John-Michael Parker\u2019s songwriting process.<\/p>\n We edited the podcast in Audacity, and did a few interviews at a pro recording studio in NYC called Refuge Recording.<\/p>\n We used Libsyn \ud83d\ude09 to upload, and our site Play Too Much to promote and distribute.<\/p>\n Promoting is an ongoing battle.<\/p>\n We\u2019ve been able to make it into the top 30 of the iTunes music charts which was a huge accomplishment and our goal is to get to the top 10 of the overall iTunes top charts.<\/p>\n We promoted heavily through social media; Facebook groups, individual Facebook pages, the band\u2019s Facebook, Twitter and twitter groups, Instagram, reddit, local concerts in NYC, we put stickers around NYC, we gave out buttons and pins around NYC, we created unique and original videos, and trailers.<\/p>\n Probably how important pre-production is for a project like this.<\/p>\n If Chris from today was talking to Chris from a year ago, I would have told myself to transcribe all of my interview audio immediately.<\/p>\n The biggest challenge in creating an audio documentary podcast is being able to reference every sound bite you have to create a cohesive and honest story.<\/p>\n If you LOVE to learn about the journey, or simply love a good story, this is the podcast for you!
