This series is all about libsyn podcasters. Its sole purpose is to introduce these awesome podcasts to the world as well as share their podcasting insight to empower the community!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Women at Warp began in March 2015, but two of our four regular hosts had been podcasting as early as 2010.<\/p>\n There are a lot of Star Trek podcasts but very few with women hosts, and even fewer with an all-woman team.<\/p>\n The four of us were aware of each other through another podcast (All Things Trek, which Grace co-hosted), and once that show wrapped, Andi had the idea to bring us together to start our own show.<\/p>\n As we started talking about our mission and goals, we got a great response and it was clear to us that we were filling a need.<\/p>\n Our un-promoted Facebook page had so many \u201clikes\u201d before we\u2019d even released our first episode that we decided to launch the show two months earlier than we\u2019d planned.<\/p>\n Women at <\/a>Warp, in short, is a feminist Star Trek podcast.<\/p>\n We examine Trek episodes and characters, representations of women on screen, contributions of women behind the scenes, and any aspect of the Star Trek universe that we happen to find interesting.<\/p>\n Our four hosts are spread out across North America.<\/p>\n We chat over Zoom, which we\u2019ve found to be more stable than Skype, and use Zoom\u2019s built-in record feature to record a backup of our conversation.<\/p>\n As we\u2019re chatting, we each record our own track locally, using either Audacity or GarageBand, and sync the files in editing, which makes it very easy to fix issues with background noise and\/or those times when we accidentally\u00a0talk over one another.<\/p>\n Twitter<\/a>, Facebook<\/a>, and word of mouth.<\/p>\n Over two years in, we\u2019ve yet to record a promo, but we do have multiple friends who are also podcasters and have mentioned or promoted our show on their shows.<\/p>\n Additionally, we all speak on panels at conventions quite often, and that gives us the opportunity to promote the show and pass out our business cards.<\/p>\n Just ask, even if you think the answer will be \u201cno,\u201d because it might be \u201cyes.\u201d\u00a0 We\u2019ve gotten all kinds of opportunities (and amazing guests!) simply because we got up the nerve to ask.<\/p>\n HOW COOL IS THIS?
