This series is all about Libsyn\u2019s podcasters. It\u2019s sole purpose is to introduce these awesome podcasts to the world as well as share their podcasting insight to empower the community!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n I launched The Mark Struczewski Podcast<\/a> on July 7, 2017. I proceeded to post 16 episodes in my first 60 days of being on Apple Podcasts. My normal schedule is to post a new episode every Tuesday.<\/p>\n I created my podcast after posting videos on YouTube for about 6 months and getting nowhere.\u00a0Crickets.<\/p>\n After reading an article on Medium by Gary Vaynerchuk about the power of audio and voice, I decided to figure out how to do this thing called a podcast.<\/p>\n To be honest, on YouTube, I was just a talking head. I wasn\u2019t SHOWING anyone how to DO anything like fix a car or plant a garden.<\/p>\n Plus, unlike video, with podcasts, you can do other things as you listen: run, walk, ride your bike, mow your lawn, work around the house, etc.<\/p>\n As a former radio DJ (in another lifetime, brother – that\u2019s a Lost TV show reference), speaking into a mic and creating podcasts was very natural to me.<\/p>\n Did the transition from YouTube to podcast work?<\/p>\n Well, you be the judge. In my first week, I had more downloads of my podcasts than I had in TOTAL views on YouTube videos in SIX months! Yeah, I know!<\/p>\n And that\u2019s no exaggeration.<\/p>\n I told my wife I would be happy if I had 50 downloads in my first month. I had no idea if this would take off. Well, I far surpassed that goal.<\/p>\n On The Mark Struczewski Podcast, I discuss simple and practical ways anyone can take their productivity to the next level. I believe that complexity is a barrier to productivity.<\/p>\n What does next level productivity even mean?<\/p>\n Imagine a scale of 0\u201310, with 10 being super productive (you always get everything done every time!) and zero meaning you never get anything done (you are the world\u2019s best procrastinator).<\/p>\n Spoiler alert: I don\u2019t believe anyone is a zero or a ten!<\/p>\n If you consider yourself a 2, I can eventually help you get to a 6 or 7 but I have to get you to a 3 first.<\/p>\n If you\u2019re a 9, well, I don\u2019t believe anyone can be a 10 but I can get you to a 9.1!<\/p>\n What I teach is not what I\u2019ve read or heard somewhere else and I am just repeating. Rather, it\u2019s what I actually do every day.\u00a0That\u2019s not to say that anything I say is new. After all, there is nothing new under the sun.<\/p>\n Full disclosure: I don\u2019t know everything when it comes to being productive. But I\u2019m a lifelong student. In fact, I am rather obsessed with productivity.<\/p>\n I choose to not edit my podcasts. I prefer them to be just like a real-world conversation (which you can\u2019t edit). I prepare my notes (which are the basis of my show notes) and just press record. Feedback from listeners has told me they like it.<\/p>\n I record my podcasts into an ATR2100 microphone directly into GarageBand on my iMac.<\/p>\n I used to use Auphonic for post processing but after hearing Rob answer my question about the loudness of The Feed podcast , I now process my audio completely in GarageBand (thanks, Rob!) and then upload to Libsyn.<\/p>\n I promote my podcast via Facebook (Page, profile and Group), Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn, my Next Level Productivity Digest email newsletter, in my email signature and whenever I speak.<\/p>\n In truth, I tell everybody who will listen to me!<\/p>\n What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?<\/p>\n I have to be me.<\/p>\n There are many, many awesome podcasters out there that I have learned from (Daniel J. Lewis, Dave Jackson, Rob Walch, Elsie! and others) but I need to be me – not a clone of these great podcasters.<\/p>\n Also, I learned not to make podcasting complicated. Have fun.
