This series is all about Libsyn\u2019s podcasters. Its sole purpose is to introduce these awesome podcasts to the world as well as share their podcasting insight to empower the community!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n I started my podcast, the Working Mother\u2019s Mentor<\/a>, 11 months ago.<\/p>\n My passion is to encourage people, particularly women, to live full, abundant lives.<\/p>\n In fact, I started the Working Mother\u2019s Mentor because I met so many amazing, talented women over the years who were working hard but yet they felt like something wasn\u2019t quite right with their professional life or family life, or often, both.\u00a0 They knew something needed to change, but sometimes weren\u2019t sure what needed to change, how to change, or when to change.<\/p>\n When I go through a season of professional change, I always seek out information to help to inform my decisions. I thought, wouldn\u2019t it be great if we could understand how very successful people navigate their careers, integrate work and family life, and make tough decisions.<\/p>\n And I didn\u2019t just want to see the shiny glossy stuff, but I wanted to understand more about the trade-offs, the failures, the support systems, etc.<\/p>\n The Working Mother\u2019s Mentor podcast is on a mission to inspire, support, and empower professional women.\u00a0 We do this through a combination of interviews with high impact leaders and through solo teaching episodes.<\/p>\n I\u2019m committed to discussing issues relevant and important to women determined to lead and to make an impact, while juggling full and busy lives.<\/p>\n In addition to discussing how our guests have forged their professional path, we also pull back the curtain to talk about real life, messiness and all.<\/p>\n I\u2019ve been fortunate to interview very interesting and diverse guests including John Lee Dumas from the Entrepreneurs on Fire Podcast, the CFO of Square, the Head of Brand for Disney, and the Executive Producer\/Showrunner for Marvel\u2019s Luke Cage.<\/p>\n I\u2019ve interviewed senior executives including leaders from\u00a0Facebook, Google, Dropbox, and Habitat for Humanity.<\/p>\n I\u2019ve had great conversations with\u00a0best-selling authors like Julie-Lythcott Haims (author of NYT Best Seller How to Raise and Adult and her recent memoir, Real American), Tiffany Dufu (author of Drop the Ball, with forward by Gloria Steinem), and amazing entrepreneurs including the co-founder of the #1 YouTube Parenting Channel What\u2019s Up Moms (with over 1 million visitors a month) and the Co-Founder of Fairygodboss, the largest online career community for women.<\/p>\n Our conversations run the gamut and each guest provides sage wisdom, concrete advice, and recommendations about specific tools and strategies that have allowed them to create a life that fulfills their personal definition of success.<\/p>\n I love producing the podcast and putting inspiration and positivity out into the world.<\/p>\n We also use the podcast as a jumping off point for creating a community of professional women. We connect on Facebook in the Working Mother\u2019s Mentor Community.<\/p>\n I also provide free resources on my website<\/a>.<\/p>\n We have a free virtual workshop soon that will provide participants with tools to uplevel their careers or start their entrepreneurial journey.\u00a0 Sign-ups for the workshop, Pivot to Possibility: Discover Your Superpower, are available here<\/a><\/p>\n The majority of my podcasts are remote interviews.\u00a0 I use a PC and Evaer recorder for Skype.<\/p>\n Because software can be unstable, I also create a back-up recording with a Zoom H6.\u00a0 For this set up I use an ATR 2100 mic and a Samson headset.<\/p>\n I also record teaching episodes. For those I use a Blue Yeti mic and capture the audio using Audacity.\u00a0 I outsource editing and production in order to ensure I release a high quality, professional show.<\/p>\n I record at home and live in a densely populated area.\u00a0 To avoid capturing sounds from outside, I have created a podcast \u201cstudio\u201d in my walk-in closet as it\u2019s the only space in the house that does not have an exterior wall.<\/p>\n The Working Mother\u2019s Mentor podcast is available across most popular platforms including Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Spotify, Stitcher, I Heart Radio, etc.<\/p>\n My podcast is promoted organically via word of mouth.\u00a0 My guests and I also promote each episode across all social media platforms.\u00a0 I use audiograms, quote cards, and other assets to make the posts more engaging.<\/p>\n I ensure that a new episode is released every Tuesday, so my listeners know they can count on me for new, inspiring content on a consistent basis.<\/p>\n I\u2019ve also been fortunate to be recognized by Apple Podcasts during Black History Month under \u201cSociety and Culture\u201d<\/a> and by Fairygodboss<\/a>.<\/p>\n I wish I knew to put more effort into marketing early on. As many podcasters will tell you, creating great content alone will not ensure people find you.<\/p>\n The podcast landscape is a lot more crowded than it was a few years ago and it\u2019s challenging to stand-out.\u00a0 You need to have a robust marketing plan in place and be prepared to invest time and resources into exposing your podcast to more people.<\/p>\n Are you needing a working mother\u2019s mentor?
