When did you start podcasting?<\/h3>\n

I started putting things\u00a0together at the end of 2019. I gave myself\u00a0 til the end of January 2020 to release an episode so that I would follow through and not chicken out. January 22 I recorded and uploaded my first episode.<\/p>\n

Why did you start podcasting?<\/h3>\n

I have listened to podcast\u00a0for a\u00a0while and\u00a0I found them really interesting. I have a passion for encouraging people, especially women. I have always wanted to do\u00a0it on\u00a0a\u00a0larger scale and\u00a0this seemed like the ideal format.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the name of your show and what is it about?<\/h3>\n

My podcast is titled\u00a0: \u201cStill Figuring It Out<\/a>\u201d. It\u2019s a podcast for people like myself in their 40\u2019s that are still trying to navigate\u00a0their way through life.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re not quite where\u00a0we want to be but not where we used to be. I encourage\u00a0people to make the\u00a0necessary steps to create the life they\u00a0want, regardless of their age\u00a0 or circumstances.<\/p>\n

I discuss how the past can sometimes hold you back in the future. The goal\u00a0is to get the listener to become the best version of themselves.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your podcasting set-up? Hardware, software, CMS, etc.<\/h3>\n

Right now I have a very basic setup. I spent $20 on a Fifine Technology. I know there are others that are significantly better but I didn\u2019t want to invest too much until I was sure I would stick to recording.<\/p>\n

As for recording and editing, I use Audacity. It was recommended by a lot of podcasters and it is free. I\u2019m still learning how to use it but it has worked for me so far.<\/p>\n

How have you promoted your podcast?<\/h3>\n

In the beginning, I promoted primarily by word of mouth. After a couple of episodes, I created a page on Facebook.<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t honestly\u00a0say that it helped much but I still use it for\u00a0promoting.<\/p>\n

I recently started using Headliner to create audiograms to\u00a0post on Instagram. Headliner has definitely made a difference for me in reaching more listeners.<\/p>\n

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?<\/h3>\n

There are so many things that I wish I knew when I started. For instance, I underestimated the process of creating an avatar. If you know who you\u2019re speaking to, it makes it a lot easier.<\/p>\n

I discovered that being a solo host and non-interview (yet) podcast is extremely hard. You have no one to bounce ideas off of or to take some of the load.<\/p>\n

Also, you really learn how well you communicate. I never realized how much I say, \u201cum and you know.\u201d\u00a0 I now here when I\u2019m saying it whether recording or not<\/p>\n
