When did you start podcasting?<\/h3>\n

After quite a lot of research to make sure we got the setup right, we interviewed our first guests in August 2020.<\/p>\n

In October 2020, the first episodes of Top Artist were released.<\/p>\n

Why did you start podcasting?<\/h3>\n

Top Artist is part of My Modern Met, a popular arts and culture website.<\/p>\n

We really wanted to be able to tell the stories of our favorite artists in an in-depth way and podcasting felt like the perfect vehicle to do so.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the name of your show and what is it about?<\/h3>\n

The My Modern Met Top Artist podcast is a bi-weekly show with a rotating roster of hosts, who are all writers for My Modern Met and passionate about art.<\/p>\n

Each episode we sit down with a top creative and spend about 30 minutes picking their brain about their early career, creative process, and some of their most memorable projects.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve interviewed everyone from legendary photojournalist Steve McCurry to Iris Scott, who has a successful career as a finger painter and Jason deCaires Taylor, who builds vast underwater museums.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your podcasting set-up?<\/h3>\n

I\u2019m using an Audio Technica ATR2100 microphone and Audio Technica ATH M30X headphones.<\/p>\n

All of our interviews are recorded using Squadcast <\/a>and we record any additional audio using either Audacity or Adobe Audition. To make the editing process easier, we upload our files into Otter.ai <\/a>and annotate the transcript for our editor. To create social media and promotional materials we use Canva, Headliner, and Adobe Premier.<\/p>\n

Every episode has its own article feature on My Modern Met<\/a>, but we also have a specific Instagram and Facebook for the podcast.<\/p>\n

The podcast also has its own website where people can sign up for a newsletter and receive information about new releases. We\u2019re now expanding out into doing collaborations with other like-minded podcasts to help build our audience.<\/p>\n
