Q & A with Eric Madsen from The Flicksation Podcast

When did you start podcasting?

Our first official episode debuted on May 7th, 2011.  This was my first foray into producing my own content.

Why did you start podcasting?

I have been an avid podcast listener for years and was especially drawn to film related podcasts as film is one of my great loves, and I had been blogging film reviews for a few years.  I like to talk about films so starting my own show seemed like the way to go.

What’s your show about?

In the Flicksation podcast we review new release films, discuss film related news,  and have a different themed film related feature segment each episode, and plenty more.  We put out the show generally every two weeks. It is long form so episodes usually run 3 hours or so.

What’s your podcasting set-up? Hardware, software, CMS, etc.

In the Flicksation studios,  I use a Behringer XENYX X1222 USB mixer.  I use MXR V63M condenser mics with shock mounts.

All 4 of our panelists are in different locations so I use Skype to record the out of studio panelists.

Because of Skype I need two computers.  The mixer feeds into my desktop computer which records the show (I use the 64 bit version of Audacity as my recording software),  and my laptop is the Skype conduit.

I use a Griffin iMic outboard sound card to run my laptop carrying Skype into my mixer.

How have you promoted your podcast?

We promote mostly through film related message boards and Facebook ads.

Anyone who digs film podcasts, movies or general film related banter needs to subscribe to The Flicksation Podcast! You can get an overall feel of the show by checking out their recent supersonic special “A Flickin’ Clip Show” which is their favorite moments and segments from their first 50 episodes! Super cool.
