Q & A with Bethany from Chatting Over Chowder
When did you start podcasting?
I started working in podcasting in 2019.
Why did you start podcasting?
I was in the corporate world for 18 years. The final three years were not bringing me any joy until I was introduced to podcasting.
I would be transformed in the conversations of the podcasts I would listen to so I could escape that gray cubicle, while doing payroll or filling out annual reviews.
The corporate world was depleting my soul.
Podcasting gave it sustenance.
What’s the name of your show and what is it about?
Chatting Over Chowder is a podcast where two minority women speak to other women in the podcasting industry about what podcasts they listen to…while eating chowder (Yes..we send our guests chowder/soup!)
What’s your podcasting set-up?
We record on Zoom. However, we request each of our guests record their own audio track so I can use the individual tracks for editing.
My co-host, Sharoline Galva and I also record our own track either on our phones via voice recorder or on DAWS such as Garageband and/or Hindenburg.
We also ask that all of our guests wear plug in headphones and if they have them, use a plug in dynamic mic.
For headphones, my favorite pair is the Sony Studio Monitor and my favorite microphone is the Samson Q2u.
How have you promoted your podcast?
All the Yeses in Yesville! In addition to talking about our podcast when we are featured speakers on summits or when we are guests on other podcasts, we also promote with other networking groups such as Ossa Collective, The State of Women and WOC Insiders Membership
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?
That the first season is for learning!
Your first episode should not have the same sound, style or experience as your last episode of the season.
The last episode should reflect your growth and understanding of what you did well in that season and what you needed to fine tune.
