Q & A with Anu Bhardwaj from The State of Women Podcast Network
When did you start podcasting?
January 2014
Why did you start podcasting?
I started podcasting in response to being a guest on a show hosted by a 12 year old who interviewed me for our Women Investing in Women Summit held at Arizona State University.
The producer of the show was so impressed with our growth and content and suggested we do our own show. A week later my baby-sitter agreed to join me as a co-host, my nanny as our producer/production assistant, and my 2 year old, Arya Bhardwaj as a guest co-host.
It was my way of getting all the girls to join me in using their voices to affect change for women and girls around the globe with full support from Voice America Kids.
What’s the name of your show and what is it about?
Women Investing in Women & Girls is the show that we created years ago. I am now building out The State of Women Podcast Network and a suite of mobile apps that will be launching on Android and iOS in early 2021 with content from women podcasters from all over the globe including titles in English, Spanish, and Chinese.
How have you promoted the State of Women Podcast Network?
We have an audience of 980,000 Followers on FB from around the globe where we will make our very first announcement as soon as we officially go LIVE.
We have an outstanding team of journalists and writers at the State of Women Institute as well as our phenomenal female podcasters who are super social media savvy.
We recently were selected at one of the top 30 global innovations from a pool of 5,000 applicants from The Islamic Development Bank Transform Fund call for COVID-Solutions in developing The State of Women Podcast Network featuring talent/guests from The Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, The Sultanate of Oman, The United Arab Emirates, The People’s Republic of Bangladesh, and the Republic of Indonesia.
We are expecting to reach demographics we never dreamt of through press releases and social media outreach from various media partners across the Middle East, South, and South-East Asia.
We are just getting started and invite collaborators in the industry to reach out to us if they would like to support our efforts as partners, mentors, champions, guest speakers/co-hosts, or social media rockstars who wish to spotlight the voices of women from the Arab world.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?
I had no idea that the Podcast community was as big as it is now and so very welcoming to new female voices.
