Q & A with Stephanie from Mocha Minutes
When did you start podcasting?
I began podcasting in September 2017.
Why did you start podcasting?
I started podcasting because I was an avid podcast listener with varying opinions.
I also like being snappy and sassy on social media.
I was listening to the Black Guy Who Tips and one of the hosts, Rod, said during a feedback show: If you have a lot of opinions and want to share them, you should start a podcast.
It was like a lightbulb went off in my head.
What’s the name of your show and what is it about?
My podcast is called the Mocha Minutes podcast.
It is a weekly topical show that discusses pop culture, current events, television/movies, sports, politics, mental health, my social life or whatever else pops into my head.
What’s your podcasting set-up? Hardware, software, CMS, etc.
I use a Dell laptop and a Blue Snowball USB Mic. For editing, I use Audacity and Levelator.
How have you promoted your podcast?
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?.
That, quite frankly, you have to be the biggest fan and motivation for your show.
You have to realize your voice matters and that words have power.
You should never put out a show that you wouldnít, yourself, listen to.
Also, never just put out content to put out content. I have watched it backfire on folks. Audiences can tell when your heart is not in it. Always put out content you are proud of.
