Q & A with Michelle from My Simplified Life
When did you start podcasting?
I launched my show in September 2019.
Why did you start podcasting?
I fell into podcasting after being laid off from my corporate job in April 2018. At that time I didn’t even know how to listen to a podcast!
I was introduced to the Whiskey & Work podcast and became determined to find my purpose and passion in life. I had no idea that it would be in podcasting.
I now produce podcasts, pitch clients and host my own show.
What’s the name of your show and what is it about?
My Simplified Life is about inspiring stories of people who have made big career switches in their life and are determining what their future is going to regardless of what their past looks like.
I do solo episodes in which I offer my tips and tools in business and mindset and all of my guests offer tips to listeners based on what they currently do.
What’s your podcasting set-up? Hardware, software, CMS, etc.
I record in my glamorous walk-in closet with a blue yeti mic in white. For solo episodes I use GarageBand and for interviews I use Zencastr. I host with Libsyn of course and utilize WordPress for my website.
How have you promoted your podcast?
I am a big believer in content repurposing, therefore I promote my podcast not only on podcasting platforms, but also on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Medium, Pinterest and Bloglovin.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?
I knew how much work goes into hosting a podcast because I was behind the scenes for awhile, but creating content is so much more work than anyone can truly see.
I constantly do a brain dump now of episode ideas and write down what I’m thinking. I also think batching is a big game changer if you can make it happen.
