Q & A with Dudes & Dads Podcast

When did you start podcasting?

I started podcasting back in 2007.

Why did you start podcasting?

I first got into podcasting because I had a hobby called Geocaching and stumbled upon a website that would allow you to call in and record a podcast on the phone and I wanted to tell everyone else about my hobby.

Those first episodes sounded terrible.

What’s the name of your show and what is it about?

My current show is the Dudes and Dads Podcast.  It is a show that encourages men to be better dudes and dads, we do so by interviewing other men and letting them tell their stories, as well as talk about topics that pertain to dudes and dads.

What’s your podcasting set-up? Hardware, software, CMS, etc.

The hardware we use has come a long way since that first podcast I recorded.

Currently we are using a RODEcaster Pro, some Audio Technica AT2020 mics, and my Macbook to bring remote Zoom calls into the Rodecaster and record the video in Open Broadcast Studio.

For our website we use a self hosted WordPress site and generate our RSS feed from it.

How have you promoted your podcast?

We have mainly promoted our podcast via word of mouth and a few facebook ads.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

Being 13 years into podcasting I wish I knew just how much fun and how many new friends I would make because of podcasting.
