Q & A with Angela from And Then Suddenly | One Moment

When did you think about starting a podcast?

I started in 2015 as a producer and editor for an environmental podcast.

Why did you start podcasting?

I was a playwright and podcasting felt a lot like theater. It was editing text, creating mood with transitions and sounds, and exploring big life topics.

What’s the name of your show and what is it about?

I’m the one woman band behind the And Then Suddenly podcast.

On my show, I talk to a diverse group of guests about one moment that turned their lives upside down. The catch is I can’t know about it until we meet.

What’s your podcast set up?

For hardware, in my at-home studio I use a Samsung Q2U microphone.

For an in person interview, I use two RODE smartLav+ connected to a Zoom H1n.

When it comes to software I use Audacity and Garageband.

How have you promoted your podcast?

On Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn

I’ve also sent episodes to organizations that might be interested in the theme of specific conversations. I’ve gotten some nice boosts from that.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

Focus on the content and not the podcast download numbers

It takes the joy out of the experience; podcasting is hard work but being able to have big life conversations with guests is amazing.
