Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know whether Libsyn or my Apple ID manages my Apple Podcasts listing?
The restoration process depends entirely on who originally submitted your podcast to Apple Podcasts. If Libsyn submitted the listing, Libsyn Support can restore it after your show has been reactivated in your Libsyn account. If you submitted the podcast yourself using Apple Podcasts Connect, you’ll restore and republish the listing directly from your Apple account.
Can I restore an archived Apple Podcasts listing without creating a new podcast?
Yes. An archived listing can usually be restored instead of creating a new podcast submission. Restoring the original listing helps you avoid duplicate shows and allows you to continue using your existing Apple Podcasts listing rather than starting over.
Why can’t I find my podcast in Apple Podcasts if it’s archived?
Archived podcasts are removed from public search and browsing, so listeners won’t see them in Apple Podcasts. However, the listing still exists inside Apple Podcasts Connect. If you manage the listing yourself, you can locate it by changing the filter to Archived, then restore and republish the show.
What should I do before restoring my Apple Podcasts listing?
First, make sure your podcast has been reactivated with your hosting provider. For Libsyn customers, the show should already be active in the Libsyn dashboard before requesting a restoration or restoring the listing yourself through Apple Podcasts Connect. This ensures Apple can successfully republish the show.
Will restoring an archived listing preserve my existing Apple Podcasts listing?
Yes. Restoring the archived listing allows you to continue using the same Apple Podcasts listing instead of creating a replacement. Once restored and published, the listing returns to Published status and becomes available to listeners again.
How can Libsyn help restore an archived Apple Podcasts listing?
If Libsyn originally submitted your podcast to Apple Podcasts, you don’t need to restore the listing yourself. After reactivating your show in Libsyn, simply contact Libsyn Support, and the team can restore your Apple Podcasts listing on your behalf, helping you get your show back online quickly without creating a new submission.
