Q & A with Gord Vickman from aBabe Music Podcast

When did you start podcasting?

Our pilot episode launched the podcast in September 2013.  Since then, we’ve published one episode monthly with plans to increase to two episodes monthly very soon.

Why did you start podcasting?

We started to have fun and increase our exposure in the Toronto music scene. Also, we feature bands that play our showcase nights, offering them some added incentive and additional promotion as well.

What’s your show about?

The aBabe Music Podcast features some of Toronto’s fastest rising artists, industry leaders and local happenings, with a touch of nostalgia for where it all began.

What’s your podcasting set-up? Hardware, software, CMS, etc.

We have a three mic setup, featuring Shure SM58 on table stands.  Our mixer is a Behringer Xenyx 1204 USB.  We record and edit using Adobe Audition CS5.5.

How have you promoted your podcast?

All social media channels are used to promote, as well as word of mouth from the artists and guests that appear on the show.  We’re now exploring every avenue to increase awareness and downloads including contacting established radio music directors.
