Q & A with Allison from The Food Heals Podcast
When did you start podcasting?
Aug. 2015
Why did you start podcasting?
By the time I was 26 years old, I was an orphan. I lost both my parents to long, debilitating battles with cancer.
When my parents were sick, I asked the doctor, “Does nutrition matter?”
He said no.
And thus my parents continued to eat a poor diet.
Would this knowledge have saved my parent’s life?
I’ll never know.
But shouldn’t every single person have the tools, knowledge, and opportunity to make an informed educated decision about their own health?
The goal of The Food Heals Podcast is to change the conversation about health. Is there a way to recover from chronic, degenerative and terminal diseases without the harrowing sacrifices demanded by traditional methods?
Why must the cure bring more suffering than the illness?
Like the hard-hitting documentaries Forks Over Knives and Food Inc, The Food Heals Podcast aims to show that in today’s highly toxic world, taking total control of your own health and healing through diet is not only possible, it is mandatory.
The knowledge is out there, the need is there. The people are demanding it. The Food Heals Podcast makes the connection forging forward a new conversation about health and a new perspective on the relationship between diet and disease.
Armed with this knowledge, empowered patients and individuals can take their health into their own hands and live longer, stronger, healthier lives!

How have you promoted your podcast?
We did a swag bag contest where we partnered up with companies with products and services that we believe in.
We asked these companies to send us products for our Celebrity Swag Bags valued at over $300. We received an amazing line-up of organic health and beauty products including natural deodorant, wrinkle-reducing face cream, refreshing body spray, detox pills, detoxifying clay masks, non-toxic make-up and so much more.
We created 10 swag bags and did a giveaway to ten lucky listeners.
To enter all they had to do was to subscribe, rate and review us on iTunes or Stitcher.
We received an overwhelming amount of wonderfully supportive reviews. We picked out ten favorite reviews and we are currently sending out our swag bags to our lucky winners.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?
We made a lot of mistakes when we started.
But I think all mistakes are lessons learned so actually I’ll say, we had many learning lessons along the way!
Our biggest lesson learned was that we needed to create systems to run our business smoothly.
We thought our small team of two could do it all and still get sleep at night but that turned out not to be the case.
In order to succeed we need to create systems that managed our time more efficiently. For example we now have a scheduling app.
So instead of doing 80 emails back and forth to choose a time for a guest to come in, now we just send them the scheduling link and they can schedule themselves!
If you’ve been looking to up-level your diet or simply learning a little bit more about food as medicine, you need to listen to the Food Heals Podcast. It’s time!
