Q & A with John from Classic Movie Review
When did you start podcasting?
I started podcasting in July 2014.
Why did you start podcasting?
I created a podcast for work called ‘15 Questions with an Archeologist.’ I found out how much fun podcasting was, and I wanted to give it a try with my own material.
What’s the name of your show and what is it about?
The name of my show is Classic Movie Review.
I review and summarize movies that are at least 25-years old.
I do this, so people will be exposed to movies that they have never heard of, and others will remember movies that they have watched and enjoyed in the past
What’s your podcasting setup?
My setup has evolved over the life of the show.
I began recording directly into a Tascam DR–40. Eventually, I added an ATR2100 microphone.
From this point, I began recording with the ATR2100 on my laptop. I upgraded to a Blue Yeti microphone and eventually added a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface. I am currently using Cowin E7 headphones.
I process my recording in Adobe Audition.
I have recorded guests using Skype and Talk Helper, but I am currently trying out Restream.
How have you promoted your podcast?
I promote my podcast through Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. I have given out business cards but did not find success from that process.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?
I wish I had known that the most important thing is to keep doing the show you want, improve the quality as you go, and let your audience find you.
