Rockin’ Libsyn Podcasts: EGO NetCast

This series is all about Libsyn’s podcasters. It’s sole purpose is to introduce these awesome podcasts to the world as well as share their podcasting insight to empower the community!

Q & A with Martin from EGO NetCast

When did you start podcasting?

I started podcasting in May 2006.

Why did you start podcasting?

I joined a podcast network called Solid Vox. The founder, Prodos from Australia, wanted to create a hub of podcasters interested in philosophy.

The idea was to participate as a host, an assistant to the producer, and a mentor for future podcasters.

What’s your show about?

My show, EGO NetCast, is about new media, business philosophy, and the good life (including tea).

What’s your podcasting set-up? Hardware, software, CMS, etc.

I record my solo shows with Boss Jock studio app. I have stored a jingle and bumpers in the carts.

I use a Samson Meteor USB microphone, connected with a lightning to USB camera adapter, to my iPhone 6S Plus. I place the iPhone on small stand in a SnapRecorder portable recording booth.

I have placed a piece of sound-absorbing material on a bench, behind my back. I export the recording to Dropbox and then I do the post production through Auphonic on my MacBook.

After I have uploaded the file to my Libsyn account, I validate the RSS feed on I then listen to the episode on my standalone podcast app.

I publish the show notes and podcast player in a blog post on my site (Squarespace).

I record the interviews with Ringr app. I plug in a IK Multimedia iRig Mic Cast microphone in my iPhone. I monitor the recording with a pair of KOSS UR10 on-ear headphones.

I schedule my guests through a personal A.I. virtual assistant service called

How have you promoted your podcast?

I tell my friends to download my standalone app on their smartphones! 😉

I have arranged meetups for podcasters and listeners to radio-on-demand, in Gothenburg, Sweden.

I have done sessions at conferences and I have been booked for speaking engagements on social media, including podcasting.

I am avid user of Twitter and I have conversations with guests and listeners. I do a pinned tweet with the latest episode of my podcast.

I share a link to my blog with the show notes and embedded podcast player on Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, and Pinterest.

I take podcasting related pictures on Instagram. I will start to use Vine, Periscope, and Snapchat more in the future.

It will be interesting to see how my podcast could be promoted with the new destinations via Libsyn, e.g., iHeartRadio and YouTube.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

How much work it takes to implement a podcasting workflow and how it could be a struggle to publish new episodes on a regular basis.

If you want to spend some time learning about new media, philosophy or simply immersing yourself in the good life, then you need to subscribe to EGO NetCast! Also, Martin is working on some good stuff, so if you want to support his Patreon or his forthcoming book about tea you can go here or here!
